This is a combined effort with Keith. Keith did the inlay, drilling and turning. I added a little bit of paint. The result was this Alt ivory sine wave gent hand painted with blue roses climbing up the ali wave. Although not done completely like an Eagle blank, we thought that this might fit because  -

Keith's sine wave is resembles Eagle's "Chain of Fool's" pen.
The Alt ivory is in memory of the hippo ivory, and giraffe bone I gave Eagle when we became friends and started to exchange ideas, but most of all...

The blue roses. They represent Lynn's and Eagle's favourite color, and favourite flower.

Wow, and with only 2 and a half minutes to closure too!!!!!!!

Well done, both of you. That is very attractive. With the flowers it looks like Port Merrion pottery.

Oh my  Shocked

Dawn, that looks absolutely beautiful!  You are so talented.  I've been staring at the pen for ages.  I'm pleased to have played a small part in it's creation, but I really think the credit goes to your artistry.  You're amazing!

truly beautiful.  Such a nice tribute to both him and myself.  This was a side of him that people didn't know about was his love for roses, and of course everyone new his favorite color was blue.
Thank you both for this lovely tribute.

Thanks all. But this combined effort was Keith's idea, and he's the one that really did all of the hard work!

LOL Steven I had to look that one up. I was not familiar with Port Merrion pottery, but since I watched the Prisioner as a kid I guess I should have been!  Roll Eyes The pen was painted completely freehand and without any pattern or guide....and no, please don't ask how may times I had to start over! Undecided

Keith, it was fun! The metal "trellis" really sparkles as you turn the pen in the light. Sorry that I am such a crummy picture taker. These photos do look quite dark on my office computer, but looked "ok" when I uploaded them from the house.  Angry

And, Lynn what can I say? Other than I am very glad that you like it.... and a bit relieved!

That really is beautiful Dawn, you did a wonderful job painting.
Keith, you did a great job on the sine wave. I really like that idea.

Funny story about this pen.  When Dawn and I first started talking about the idea she said at one point, "It would be great if it would fit in a full size Gent".  I thought to myself, sure, whatever you want, sounds good to me.

As most of you know Ed's alt. ivory comes in a rod about 15/16" thick.  Well I can't cut a rod on my scoll saw, so I needed to turn it into a square.  I took the alt. ivory rod, turned it down to 3/4" so it would fit in my mold, cast it with PR and now I had a square blank.

Did the cutting and gluing and then put it back on the lathe and turned it down to 3/4" again.  Cut the blank for upper and lower barrels, put the upper barrel in the collet chuck and grabbed the drill bit.

Wow  Shocked  Now that's a big bit!!   Now I finally understood what Dawn was talking about "if it would fit in a full size".  By the time I had drilled it and glued the tube in, it did not take more than a couple passes with the skew and the blank was down to the bushing size.

On my second full size gent I plan to use a blank somewhat bigger than 3/4"  Grin
