Well, I've been reading through Stewart Coffin's 'Geometric Puzzle Designs' and loving it. This was one that he suggested would be good to try just to get a feel for things. I made this out of Cumaru and finished it with Danish Oil. This puzzle was made with six identical pieces. The first one I made had the Pseudo Key. I did not add the Tetrahedron Ends as Stewart suggested, I just beveled the original pieces. I will save all of that for when I have access to an table saw.

John has suggested that I do this puzzle and then turn it down to a sphere. I think it's a good idea and will give it a try.

Thanks for checkin' it out  Smiley

Nicely done!!! especially without the use of a table saw!  Can't wait to see the ball version.  It's a classic Stewart design!

Excellent job, looks like a very good fit.  What kind of saw did you use?

I like this design because it is a space-filling solid.  Make a dozen more and pack them in a box!

That's a great start Steve, can't wait to see it turned into a sphere!  Cool

Thanks Guys!

I used my Bandsaw with Mitre Gauge and Machinists V-Bocks. Certainly not the most accurate way to go about it, but it did get the job done.

I'm worknig on the one for the sphere right now, should be pretty cool Cool

How can I justify buying the next great woodworking invention if you can create such fine work without even a table saw? No one is allowed to tell my wife!!!!

Ehh, I thought it was your birthday because I looked at your profile, but I later realized that the date I was looking at was the time and date of your current time zone.  I was wishing you a happy birthday, but quickly realized that today might not be the day, so I erased the message so I would not feel stupid.

It was a picture of a bird and a cat.  The cat ate the entire bird except for the beak, and because there was no more food there was no reason for the cat to hang around.  Thus is was just a picture of a beak.

Well, thanks Roby, you're pretty close  Wink I love the cat and bird story. Smart cat, it may not be all bad going down but would sure play hell coming out!!! Maybe that's why there are howling cats, they haven't learned that lesson yet!!!  Grin
