I'm a very superstitious person and I believe that when someone passes they watch over their friends and family.

I believe that my friend has visited me at least twice and I'll tell you what happened and let you decide for yourself.

The first visit was the 4th of July around 11:00 P.M. I returned home from a family get together to read the sad news. I was stunned and terribly saddened that I never got to say the things that I wanted to say. I shed some tears and decided that sleep was not going to come easy that night so I figured why not  go down into the shop and clean up. Went into the shop and flipped the light switch and nothing happened. No lights at all? After standing there dumbfounded for a few moments I flipped the switch a few more times and then decided that I really didn't need to be in the shop so I went to bed. The next day when I went to the breaker box to check the breaker I found nothing wrong. Flipped the light switch and the lights came on as usual. I said "O.K. Buddy, you made your presence known" and went about the day.

The second visit was last night. I made a post to Lynn in another thread and mentioned a letter and pen that Eagle had sent to me when my father passed away in November of 2006. I got out the pen and read the letter once again and the tears were flowing freely. All of the sudden a box falls off the shelf above my desk. Of all the boxes on that shelf it was a software box and the program is called Norton Ghost. I knew that it was his sense of humor and he was "jerking my chain" because he was a master at it and I think it gave him enjoyment. I said that I was sorry that I was too stubborn to let go of the past and that I used that lesson to mend a couple of fences that needed to be mended. As soon as I said that, the light in the room flickered and I knew that it was a sign of approval.

You can believe it or not but after each event I felt calm and relaxed. I hope that he will "stop in" from time to time because I enjoy the company.

I too have similar beliefs and believe that Eagle has been around.  Shortly before Eagle passed we were joking around and I gave him some shit about not having finished a specific pen (many of you will know which one without further mention - I don't need jinxed again  Roll Eyes ) and my having finished something that he had been bugging me about.  I was working on a pen the night I received the phone call telling me of our dear friends passing .. and obviously I didn't touch that pen the rest of the night .. many tears were shed.  In fact I really wasn't able to turn for the next day either... when I did finally pick up my skew again the blank I was turning was almost immediately turned to trash.   Wink  Fine, I wasn't really to thrilled about finishing it anyway given when I was working on it last and figured I was just subconsciously getting rid of it in my own way.

I started another one.  That one didn't work out so well either .. this time I knew what was going on when the blank blew off the tube - something that had NEVER happened to me before and has NOT happened since.  I even told another person that Eagle was playing games with me.  Once I acknowleged it and just let it all go ... I started another pen.... a very special pen as it would turn out.

I began working on a piece of DIW Burl.  You all know how various wood sprites will show themselves in this particular wood.  The piece I had looked to be about 1/2 sap/heart on the cap and about 1/3 on the body.  As I was turning the cap the sap began giving way (as is often the case) to the heartwood underneath.  At one point I just stopped turning to check my progress and it was amazing .. staring up at me was a beautiful image of an Eagle... I had to have Mike look at it to make sure I wasn't seeing things .. he could see it clearly as well.

I seriously considered NOT turning the pen any further... but something made me go on .. at first I thought it was just the desire to FINALLY get beyond my prankster friend .. but it was something more too.  As I turned the sap continued to fade and the Eagle became less distinct - although still there... however in the upper part of his wing there was a swirl that began to appear .. as it went the swirl took on an image of its own .. and showed me a gorgeous dove .. a dove of peace.  Still I didn't stop and set it aside .. though again I thought seriously of doing so fearing I would not have my Eagle and dove of peace if I continued.

As I finished the cap end of the pen the Sap did fade a bit more, the Eagle and dove both became a bit more difficult to find - but they are still there ... to signify that my dear friend is still with us and just above them both the Sap sprite gave me one of my greatest loves .. as clearly as you could ever hope to see there is a whale jumping out of the water at the end of the cap.  When I was younger my dream was to become an oceanographer .. I had a family instead but did later get my PADI certification and will dive any chance I get.

This was just ONE of the times that Eagle has let me know he is around, watching over us all and "at peace."
