Hi Boet

I've just been playing a bit.  Still too cold to work in the workshop.  Wanted to show that there can be other designs from South Africa as well not piggy backed on another design.

If anybody is interested, send me a pm and I'll forward the Burrtools file.  I'm going to have trouble making them anyway since the stuff is not square.

Items fashioned on burrtools that is not square.  That sound interesting.  I would not mind taking a peek at that.   Wink

Don't get too excited...they're not round either, no lathe work here Roll Eyes  Wink

Here's a link to the 'not square' designs on Ishino's website:

Thanks Ou Toppie, I hope the coloration will be the 'clincher'  Wink

I thought I should mention that the 'Man' behind 'Burrtools' is Andreas Roever and his wonderful website can be found here:  Cool

I've been working on the very same principle beginning this year, but then that Hextasy stuff distracted me from going deeper into it. Nevertheless it turns out that with much simpler and fewer pieces (the old RKB style?) than Johan's levels up to 27 (and no doubt even higher) are very well possible. Also some/a lot of work still needs to be done to obtain unique solutions... but I'm optimistic  Wink
I already mailed one of these unfinished designs to Johan... If he can motivate me, I might well go further on this the next weeks.

Your Majesty, I have attempted the simple pieces to get higher level results, but have not been very successful.   Ever keeping in mind tihe strictures you want on designs.  Then I decided to just play and fiddle and see what comes out.

I'll leave it then as a challenge to prove it otherwise, since I have a similar one than you in the pot at the moment.  Grin

Thank you very much!!!  Wink  Cool

the other thing you have to worry about with the triangular prism code in burrtools is that in the released version, it doesn't handle the potential coordinate motion moves (ala Andreas Rover's CM13 puzzle).  So there is the slight possibility of a shorter solution using coordinate motion than using just normal moves...

However, Andreas might be willing to analyze a puzzle or two to check for such solutions on his super-secret-advanced-disassembler version...

As a matter of fact in the preliminary design I mailed to Johan the longest solution (not in his file... wouldn't bother him with that  Grin ... or I could simply admit that I just forgot to mention it as I opened and mailed the wrong file myself) has some very complex coordinate motions. Let me see if I can make that one unique without adding too much to the simple structure of the pieces.

I'll test Johan's designs for CM's (but probably Ishino already did).
