Hope you like this one, I custom made the grip on it, and it is a closed end Churchill Fountain Pen. Very fastidious this time round with encountering a multitude of problems, -some self made, others because it is wood and resin there is a difference in the cutting and the strength of the blank, as you go deeper and the blank is thinner, it is a wise thing to use CA to help stabilize it. The cap is an invisible clip and down the centre I utilized the silver ring but custom made the other portion out of wood; I also made a matching RollerBall but encountered some last moment problems, it is complete also now but the grip is not custom made. Comments welcome, Amos

Very well done Amos!!  Cool

I've never seen that sort of detail on the center band...you look to be one step away from doing 'kitless' pens!   Wink

The invisible clip is done by laser cutting the slot for the clip, sorry to let you down, but, the tutorials on the IAP site are excellent, except they require great skill, especially on the cutting, in fact I had tried with a 0.7mil drill by hand but wasn't satisfied, need to make a jig to hold the cap still. Eventually, I figured out how to use the laser more precisely and exprimented as to how much gap to leave after the tube, and also what width to use. Also you need to be thinking when drilling the blank exactly where the clip is to go and allow 1 mil extra past the tube, the dome left by the drill can then accomodate the inside metal fitting provided in the kit(Churchill), I sand off the diameter so it slips in easily, I also grind 1/2 the threads off, or else the protruding end with the threads may stick out too far. Then make enough epoxy to fill the dome and put it together, adjust the clip and hold the cap in place in a clamp(with plastic ends),; For cutting the clip see the IAP Tutorials, I give the cut clip a slight inward twist to make it easier to insert.
