james,
I listed thAt hope chest 8 years ago for $1200, but no takers. now i could easily get that aMount, but have NO desire to sell iT. i still should take pictures of it so that all of you can eat your hearts out. even the hinge bars are MAde out of wood, and it has 6 secRet compartments. it weighs about 200 lbs, so I don't taKe pics of it frequently, but I shall do so when I finish with these puzzles.
matt-- I still have you in my sights.

Another possible candidate for a special puzzle commission like the one you seek would be Kagen Schaefer. He made the puzzle tables (I think) that Jerry Slocum commissioned for his display at the Lilly Library at Indiana University. Plus he has an interesting design for a puzzle table on his website. But given that the table is $8000, a chair may be pretty expensive.

Robert, you sent me some photos of the chest a while back. Too bad I missed it on Ebay ... I would have snatched that sucker up.
I believe that Kamei also made a table for Jerry. No matter ... we are still talking more than I wish to invest in something that has to deal with my butt everyday ...

Ahhh, It looks like Mark is refusing to play your little cypher game. Good for him.
Now if I may pull off of the subject of chairs for just a moment, here are some pics of the puzzle chest I was talking about. These pics are courtousy of Matt who saved me the trouble of unloading and dragging out the chest by sending me pics that I had e-mailed to him years ago.

I do picture a chair that would fold up somewhat like a lawnchair - but end up being a large box. I think the main problem with any chair would indeed be having it comfortable, sturdy enough, and also a cool puzzle. Seems like a challenge to get all three.

Hey hey hey, wait a minute. Isn't this a family forum. I don't know what those two chairs are doing, but I am pretty sure that it is not legal in my state.
