I just saw you joined.  Where have you been hiding all this time?

Howdy!  Life has taken some unexpected turns (no pun intended) and I haven't been able to do any turning or other stuff for a long time.  Nothing negative - just a 2nd child, remodeling about 25% of the house all at once, and most recently moving to (or at least trying to move to) a new city.  Lots of distractions that haven't left much free time for turning, and when I did have time, my shop has been taken over by renovation cast-offs and I haven't been able to clean it up.  Work also heated up quite a bit, with the departure of several people toward the middle of last year, and I knew that with the other distractions, I couldn't keep visiting IAP the way I had.  I really enjoyed participating there, and if I went, I was there for a while each day, and that meant spending time that I wasn't working or with family, and I just couldn't justify it.  So, I had to stop.

Things have calmed some, now that our 2nd son has been born and I've changed jobs.  We're still trying to sell our house (if you know anybody in the DC area looking for a lovely 2 bedroom, 1.5 bath townhouse in a fantastic development in Reston... Wink ), and are living with my in-laws who (thankfully) don't live far from my new job.  I still don't have time to turn, but I do at least have time to peruse certain forums.  I haven't ventured back to IAP yet, but hope to soon (I noticed today that Jeff took down my account - I was trying to show a new co-worker some of my work!).  I stumbled onto this forum from Lou's web site, and really wanted to convey my sympathies to Lynn.  As I mentioned in my post, we had our run-ins, but they were relatively few, and I did get some very nice feedback from him, and had some great conversations with him too.  I was truly saddened to hear that he passed away, and was glad for the opportunity to more completely express my condolances to Lynn and her family.  Love him or hate him, everybody knew Eagle, and even those who would trash him personally had no choice but to appreciate and respect the work he did.  He'll be sorely missed.  Heck, I bet the IAP forum traffic will be cut by 50% or more once the news of his passing has worked its way through the system!

Lou, thanks for making this available.  It's a fitting tribute to Eagle.

Shocked  Wow, that is a bunch of changes.  Congratulations on the new baby and the new job.  Unfortunately Lou is the only other person I know who lives near DC.  He may actually need a new house after winning that behemoth lathe. Cheesy
