I hope VisExp doesn't mind, here's his description of the pen from his website: http://www.syzygypens.com/
Proteus style rollerball pen made from Coastal Red Milkwood with dyed wood veneer and aluminum inserts. The pattern repeats itself four times around the pen.  Unbelievable blank Keith thank you!!! Cool

Well all the credit for the pen goes to Keith, he does amazing stuff!!  As for turning it, wood lathe, but I now use my C1 Rougher with 4" radius carbide tip exclusively start to finish, does a great job on any material! Wink

LOL.  I know that feeling  Grin

You did a great job turning it John.  Thanks for showing it.   The design is actually called "Circles in a Forest".  Proteus is what I call the Jr. Gent on my website.  It was actually a suggestion from Eagle not to refer to the pens as Jr. Gent, Sierra etc.  He suggested I call them something else.  It took a while but eventually I decided to name all the kit styles after moons.  I thought it fit well with the name of the site, Syzygy.

Okay, I was confused about that...the kit I used for this was a Jr. Emperor, but in all my brilliance used Jr. Gent. bushings Shocked...had to put a Jr. Gent. end cap instead Roll Eyes  Definitely a 'one of a kind' Embarrassed

I'll try and get some pics or a video showing some aluminum turning in action...but I'll need an editor, lighting director, camera crew, etc, etc, etc,....shouldn't be a problem Grin
