Not sure what colour to use yet. Thinking of pearled dark blue or red?? Any suggestions?

This looks to me like it screams out for a royal blue.. something a shade darker
than your vise in the picture.

LOL, Chinny if you really want to see my stuff then rather go to my own site. There's a link at the bottom of each of my posts.

I have a feeling that I'm soon to be persona non grata with that other site soon Cry

I've got a few more pics that I'll post after dinner and a pint. I had to choose another colour as I didn't have enough red or blue to make replacements for mess ups. Angry Grin

OK, I'm back. These pics show how I get the shapes as close as possible by hand, then clamp them up and use heat. The heat softens the resin and I gently close the clamps. When it is completely closed, I remove the clamps and glue the parts together.
One pic shows the body of the pen part turned. I do this so I can hold the pen in my lathe chuck and drill the centre out again.
Although this colour doesn't look so good now, it really is very nice when polished. Grin
Easy huh? Wink

Getting there Grin I don't think I'll get much free time tomorrow so I doubt I'll be able to do more for a bit.
I wanted to see how my joints looked so I turned this part down. I think it looks pretty nice Grin

I thought that it would be put in a mould and cast and then turned down afterwards.  Looks very nice!!!  Wink

Johan, you will soon find that a "Skiprat" does nothing the expected way.  Who else would start with a bolt, turn it smooth, then thread it?

I'm not too surprised!!  That's how us rockspiders learned how Souties think, but that's a subject on its own.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes   It would suffice to leave it at that, otherwise I will trangress the stringent rules laid down by this forum!!!! Grin Grin Grin

Now the "Soutie" thinks he can bend over without a crack being visible.  Sheesh, even the hairybacks and rockspiders are smarter than that!  (Perhaps you could pre-bend the clip?)

Wow Lou, you're brave!!!! You better hope Johan doesn't see this or he might start referring to you as 'The Fool On The Hill' or something Evil

Pre-bending could have worked ( to weaken it a little ) but I'm afraid that it is as useful as hindsight now as it's all glued up and turned.
I think I'll just try and rig up some sort of clamp and just 'go-for-it'

Oh, I'd hate to see you mess it up at this point...maybe finish it off without a clip???  I'd say I hope you have the 'luck of the Irish', but that doesn't quite fit does it? Grin
