Burr tools is simply awesome.  My only request is that any updates to the software would allow you to put the pieces where you want as opposed to having the computer decide for you where they go.  Then I could use it for making puzzleboxes as well.

IT would be excellent for me.  There are some projects that are just far too complex to be crafted in my mind.

You can have pieces in predefined positions by using constraint colors.

Welcome Ry...I did have a question regarding exporting solutions, I've been able to get some to export but yet others seem to get bogged down, is that normal.  Does it have to do with the size of the design file?

I only use it to see what designers have sent me, by way of designs...beyond that I'm useless...I don't have the patience to design anything, period!  Just a crazy 'Canuck' who happens to make puzzles Tongue

The wonderful thing about burr tools is that you can just play around with a few shapes and have no idea what you are doing.  Then you just push a button and WHAM, the program assembles a bunch of otherwise random shapes into a cube.  IF your are missing peices, it will let you know what shapes are required to finish a cube.  You can easily discover the next great burr simply by a combination of playing around and by accident.

For me, the most impressive thing about it is the software itself.  A really nice job there.  If I were still into programming, there would definately be some sub-routines that I would want to steal from it for other programs.

I've only recently managed to get it right.  Started with a pentomino block, which is my all time favorite packing puzzle. (photo of one I made 25 years ago with a junior hacksaw.)  Grin

The program cannot handle pieces that rotate.  Sad
