Hi all, thought this might make for an interesting thread...let's hear about the first puzzle you ever had or made;
My first puzzle was one made by 'Interlocking Puzzles' (sadly no longer in business!) a puzzle called 'Fusion-Confusion' designed by the great 'Stewart Coffin'!  I eventually made and sold a limited run of these puzzles of my own, and still credit this puzzle with starting me down the 'path of despair' in the puzzle world!  Here's a pic of my version in Bloodwood and Holly;

Mine was the dodecahedron "Rubik type" puzzle.  I called it Hedron.  It was made from plastic polyester parts that I cast, combined with metal parts and some styrene parts melted in the oven in pretty crude molds made in my sister's cupcake tins.  oops.   The prototype actually worked but had to be handled pretty gingerly.  This was all before CAD or any computer controlled machinery came along.  It was pretty tough just to properly draw the parts much less make them.  I was pretty proud of that one.  I might need to make an all metal one someday in my "spare" time.

Oh yeah, definitely!!  There's currently big demand for custom made 'Rubik type' puzzles, not too long ago I was on a website that had a waiting list for them! Shocked

I have a collection of a lot of those types of puzzles: Alexander's Star, Pyraminx, Different versions of a cube, etc.

I was just recently offered a first run of some dodecahedron twisty puzzles from a puzzle friend in Taiwan...price was $15.00 each so it was tempting.... Undecided

When I was trying to market my puzzles, I ran across a Mr. Uwe Meiffert from Hong Kong.  He was the one that came up with the Pyraminx and was interested in making other puzzles.  He had a huge assortment of puzzles that he did, even way back then.  I wonder if he or his sources are the ones still doing those.

That's very interesting, because there is a website by a similar name, Meffert twisty puzzles?

Now that I figured out how to post pics directly, here's the 'Fusion-Confusion' I mentioned in my first post, Bloodwood/Holly;

Alright, ya caught me! No, it's not a puzzle and no it's not rocket science. But, for what I went through figuring out how to make this thing I figured I might as well post it. After all, it is made with a bunch of little pieces Tongue Grin

Now the truly puzzling part is, How did you get that pic to show up in the thread? I tried, as you can see, it didn't work out.
